The Hindu deity Moon married all 27 daughters of King Daksha, who was a son of supreme lord Brahma. All these 27 daughters are the nakshatra is the sky. Even though the moon was married to all, he loved and used to be with only his beloved queen Rohini. Angered by his behaviors his other wives complained about the same to their father. When even with repeated requested Daksha could not make the Moon change his attitude, he cursed him, making him wean is size gradually. Even when Moon and his wives requested to Daksha to withdraw it back, but a curse cannot be undone completely. The situation became, if Moon visited all his 27 wives, he will have his glaze for half a month. Since that time the moon goes through all 27 nakshatras in a month and also undergoes a transformation of waxing and weaning (Amavasya and Poornima).
